Watch For The Signs!

The word of the LORD came again to me saying, "Son of man, prophesy and say, `Thus says the Lord GOD, "Wail, `Alas for the day!' For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near; it will be a day of clouds, a time of doom for the nations.’” Ezekiel 30:1-3
The day of the Lord is something we look forward to whole-heartedly. It is a day of salvation for those who have cleansed themselves from sin and a day of doom and judgment for those who refuse to repent. It is a day when each person will be recompensed for the deeds they have done as well as those not done. Each person will be judged according to their words, their actions and their very thoughts - not just big ones that stand out, but every single one that might be hidden from people, but not from God.
It is time to look deeply into yourself and make sure you are not so proud and arrogant that you do not see the wrongs you may have done. Examine yourself thoroughly and see if you are doing what is right according to the word of God, for as you have done it will be done to you, your dealings will return on your own head (Obadiah 1:15). It is time to know that whatever you have done (or not done) you have also done to the Lord and your reward will be returned to you in kind. (Matthew 25:31-46)
The day draws near, but it is also important to remember to wait patiently for the Lord to accomplish things when He is ready. Near in our time is not necessarily near in God’s time. But God gives us signs in order that we may know when it is His time.
As the Lord put Isaiah 5 on my heart a couple of weeks ago, especially Isaiah 5:19- Woe to those who say "Let Him make speed, let Him hasten His work, that we may see it; and let the purpose of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come to pass, that we may know it!"
This hastening is a characteristic of the last stage of apostasy. 2 Thessalonians 2 teaches us not to be deceived for the day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed.
Just as in Ezekiel, this is only the beginning, there is more to come and times will get harder. People will start to loose faith and will start to fall away because they are not strong in their faith. This is the time to put on the full armor of God and stand firm on His Word. It is time to gather as a people of God to strengthen each other so that you do not turn away from His truth.
It is time to be patient and watch for the signs.
